Prof. Mohamed Al-Alfy received his Ph.D. through a DAAD scholarship from 2000 to 2003. (TU Friberg, Germany and Mansoura University). He was a visiting professor at the TU Friberg in Germany (2007-2008). He worked as a scientific consultant for a Saudi Arabian consortium comprised of BRGM, AN, and TEC (2008-2011). He held the position of associate professor at King Saud University (2011-2018). He served on the Scientific Committee of the Prince Sultan International Water Prize (2014-2018). He is the Vice President of Egypt's National Geosciences Committee (2019-present), and he was the Executive Manager of Mansoura University's Petroleum and Mining Program (2020-2021). Currently, he is the Director of the University Development Center (UDC) at Mansoura University.

Prof. Al-Alfy currently works at Mansoura University's Department of Geology in Egypt. In arid areas, he conducts research in the fields of hydrology, GIS, and remote sensing. His research interests include the interaction of groundwater and surface water, coastal environmental systems, and water resource management. He collaborates with several national and international institutes and has a large number of research articles published in international indexed journals. In many local and foreign universities, he supervised numerous Ph.D. and M. Sc. students. He completed several scientific and industrial projects in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the Czech Republic, and Germany. He worked as a Visiting Editor for the MDPI journal Geosciences (2020 until Now).
