Under the Patronage of Prof. Sherif Youssef Khater, President of Mansoura University, and Prof. Tarek Mostafa Ghalwash, Vice President of Mansoura University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, and under the leadership of Prof. Waleed Mohamed El-Shenawy, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Mansoura University, and Prof. Mohamed El-Alfy, Director of the University Performance Development Center, and under the supervision of Prof. Ibrahim Abdullah Abdelraouf, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Dr. Samah El-Said, Deputy Director of the Center, and Dr. Eman Obaida, Director of the Translation, Authorship, and Publishing Unit, and in collaboration with Pearson Educationthe event

“Teaching and Learning English in the Age of Artificial Intelligence Applications”

was held on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at El-Shafie Bashir Hall, Faculty of Law.

The event featured a series of sessions and activities highlighting the advantages of using artificial intelligence (AI) in language learning, particularly English, while also addressing the broader culture of language learning.
This initiative reflects the commitment of the University Development Center to contribute to the implementation of Mansoura University’s strategic plan, especially in the Postgraduate Studies and Research Sector, concerning the internationalization of higher education.

The sessions included:

  • Session 1: The Future of International English Language Testing – AI and the PTE Exam,
    delivered by Ms. Ipek Aydin, Director of PTE Exams and Regional Coordinator for the Middle East, Africa, and Turkey.

  • Session 2: The Impact of Culture on Language Learning and the Criteria for Assessing Speaking Skills in International Tests,
    presented by Mr. Islam El-Hadidi, Assistant Lecturer at the Faculty of Education, Department of English Language Curriculum and Instruction,
    and Mr. Douglas Henry Jack, Academic Advisor at Mansoura College Schools.

  • Session 3: Peer-to-Peer Learning: Student-Led Language Initiatives,
    presented by E-Mates Organization.
    Speakers included Mohamed El-Hadidi, a fourth-year student in the English Language and Specialized Translation Program, Faculty of Arts,
    and Farah Nawar, a third-year student in the same program, who discussed the group’s activities and initiatives that promote English language learning across the university campus.

  • Session 4: Interactive Teaching Strategies: The Potentials of Artificial Intelligence in Education,
    delivered by Prof. Riham El-Ghoul, Professor of Educational Technology, Faculty of Education, Mansoura University, and Director of the Educational Technology Center.
    The session focused on modern teaching methods utilizing AI tools.

  • Session 5: Using AI with Pearson’s MyLab & Mastering Applications – AI Study Tools and Exam Preparation Resources for Language Teacherspresented by Mr. Ahmed Samir, Product and Services Manager for Higher Education in the Middle East and Africa.

  • Session 6: AI in Assessment: Is Digital Evaluation the Future?,
    delivered by Mr. Steven O’Farrell, Educational Consultant and Master Trainer for PTE Exams in the Middle East, North Africa, and Turkey (UAE).

  • Final Session: Informative Session on Pearson Education – Activities and Collaboration Opportunities,
    presented by Ms. Rania Nazeih, PTE Business Development Specialist for North Africa, and Ms. Israa Moataz, University Partnership Coordinator at Pearson Education.

The event witnessed participation from the Faculty of Arts at Delta University, the Faculty of Al-Alsun at Horus University, and several private and experimental schools, enriching the discussions with diverse academic and educational perspectives.
